Pete Bedwell planned to skate for three days from Bristol to Worcester in July, aiming to raise at least £300 for the Lowe Syndrome Trust as he did so. Unfortunately, Pete's journey struck a hitch on Day 1, 7th July. Namely, his board got run over, and broke. Here's an email from him explaining:
Basically I got about 3 miles up Gloucester Road (all uphill) in about half an hour. So not bad going. Raining hard. I was going along happily, then I feel something wrong with my stance so I look down to check my board foot, when I look back up there is a blue Peugeot 3 foot away from me, cutting across my path from the other side of the road, towards a side road. I jumped off my board, unfortunately Ralph (my board was named whilst in a drunken stupor..) rolled underneath the back wheel and there was a BANG! As I see ralph pop back from underneath, I immediately check for damage, and sure enough, the front has been snapped, both infront AND behind the Holeys.
The guy looked like he was going to stop. But then decided against it and drove off, so I gave him a shed load of abuse, in the hope he would stop so I could explain what he had just done.
Anyways, I will re schedule it all when I have a new Raven. I hate cars.
