I was one of the four guys who recently finished the 8000km trip across Canada with the Push for the Cure. I know exactly what's going through your mind and how you body is feeling and I know it is incredible. I'm am always so proud to see the skate community making change. From Adam Colton to Rob Dyer to the Push to You, we are showing the world we can make a difference. As we rolled into Vancouver we had over 150 riders with us showing their support. It was the most emotional moment of my life. I hope/know that you will have that same experience. I wish you all the best. I also look forward to riding with you one day. If I miss you, I wish well for the rest of your epic journey to Brisbane. - You inspire me! I picked up my first long board while I was backpacking through Canada this last Summer 06. It literally was was love at first roll *sorry lame'o line*. I spent many days and late nights on the roads where I was living in BC Canada carving up the tar. I left Canada last September and travelled back to my home town of Australia with long board in hand. Without the free time and not having pals to go with unfortunately my board has not been out as much. This week I stumpled across your site this week and I must say I've been inspired. The board has returned to tar and I have once again discovered the freedom of the tarmac. Wear very bright clothing, don’t ride at night, or very early morning, because sun coming up will blind weary drivers with dirty windscreens. If there is a truck coming towards you and a truck coming behind and they are going to pass each other where you are, get off the road. Ask truckies in roadhouses to warn other truckies of you road presence, via their two way radios. Keep well left on crest of hill when vehicle coming from behind. Drink and eat well. Smile lots and ride like there’s no tomorrow. - Just heard about boardfree Aus-what a feat, i drove over the Nullarbor twice last year (drove round the whole of OZ-amazing) and seen people walking cycling and roller blading it now the longboard joins the list. Hope you do it mate and enjoy it as you are probably well aware you are about to face a whole lot of nothingness, some of the scenery is spectacular some of it doesn't seem to change for 100's of kilometres. Watch out for the roadkill-some big roos out there also watch out for the goats, cows, camels, lizards, emus, wild cats, dingoes and huge eagles that you will hopefully be lucky enough to encounter on the way, most of all watch out for the roadtrains they are huge!!!! All the very best to you and your crew. - My most sincere congratulations on your impressive accomplishment. During your trip I was watching your videos on the Internet with disbelief and found your dedication to your mission a great inspiration. The length of Britain on a skateboard? You've done it. Anyone who is reading this please give generously to Boardfree to benefit three great charities. Conor has Lowe Syndrome and I can tell you it is a devastating condition. Conor is totally blind, a few years ago he had his left eye removed and the same thing will happen to his right eye. Another very sad day. Conor is in a wheelchair, suffers from epilepsy, chronic constipation, has a renal condition which can lead to kidney failure, severe learning difficulties and behavior problems. We never know what tomorrow might bring. Sounds harse but this is the reality of Lowe Syndrome. We need to raise lots of money for research so the next generation are free from this terrible disease. So everybody dig deep, be inspired by Dave and all his team. - You've opened doors to new ideas for me. I'm just getting into long distance road cycling. Will be pushing the boundaries a little more after hearing of your achievements. Keep up the good work..you're an inspiration to all.

I am from Vancouver Canada and am enjoying the info on your site that is
documenting your skate(s) for charity.
As well I wanted to give him thumbs up for wearing a helmet and safety gear
on his journey. Some cross country longboards don't do the safety gear which
is sad as it sets a bad example for other skaters. Good on Dave for wearing - Well done for seeing off the highland chavs. I adore Holly's expression. "Do you still love me." Ride on Dave you're our hero. -

The Mongolian kids out there have never seen a skateboard, they had a lot of fun sitting on the board and getting pulled across parts of the desert. I am about to turn 40 next month and have been on a board of one form or another since the early seventies, I wish I had thought about something like this years ago. Since I discovered your web site and found out about your UK and Aussie trips I can’t stop smiling, for all those guys and girls out there who love to skate this is the ultimate board-road trip. The web site is great – I hope you can keep up with your blogs as much as possible during your UK and Aussie trips – a lot of people are going to want to follow your progress. Your body will adjust to the journey and the miles - my only advice is this – during the long haul flight out to Oz keep your board with you as hand luggage on the plane – that’s what I did when I went to Mongolia – my board came back with me – the rest of my gear disappeared. - Just thought i would wish you Good Luck on your 1000 mile board in

Speaking as someone who's crossed and re-crossed the nullarbor around ten
times using various modes of transport -- Greyhound bus, beat-up Landrover,
family sedan -- i'd say it's eminently possible for Dave to achieve his
dream of boarding those vast and inhospitable stretches of the Australian
Outback. It's not uncommon to see tourists even cycling or motorcycling
across Australia, one lonely roadhouse at a time, using only their
enthusiasm and frosty bottles of Coke to speed them to safety. Although,
having experienced my first fifty-plus degrees celcius day on a stretch of
road between WA and South Australia, I'd certainly advise Dave to think
carefully about water and shade -- because there's none of either out there.
Also, when gigantic 18-wheeler road trains come thundering past, try and
keep to the left. And when the first one radios behind him to his mates that
he just passed a guy on a longboard in the middle of nowhere, try and keep
WAY to the left -- because they'll be looking out for you. metro.co.uk - This guy is a legend!! Saw your post on SerpentineRoad.com and on visiting your website I actually remembered I did see the mad dog on the funny board in the park a few weeks ago. I am filled by admiration mixed with a healthy dose of envy, in the good sense, meaning I am spurred on and inspired by your project.

My Dad got me into it and he's been on a trip similar to yours only he wasn't really organised enough to get any support like you have! He longboarded around india for 6
months a few years ago, met the Dalai Lama and had a fantastic experience. Armed with a buddha board he just went out and did it which I really admired. What made me look up when reading the interview was how quickly after starting up boarding you decided to do a charity skate for 5000 miles! It's great what your doing mate, good luck and take it mile by mile!! - I applaud you and what you are doing - not only for yourself but all the others whose lives you touch. You are embarking on a tremendous adventure - all of you - and I wish you success and good health. - 5000 miles? Are there that many miles in the world? - This is a fantastic thing you're planning, and I wish you lots of luck. I'm sure you'll manage to hit your charity targets; and hopefully you'll manage to get more people realising that skating on a longboard can be a safe, fun method of travel and they should get out there and - Just about to start longboarding myself. And you mate are an inspiration...a nutter! But an inspiration. - I really dig your plan and wish you all the luck. I'd love to help out the cause. - Firstly, I am amazed that anyone would try and skate around Australia – that is an absolutely incredible task to try and complete. I will be watching with interest to see how he gets on. I traveled across Australia, through the desert from Melbourne to Perth in a car. Occasionally I would pass Japanese people on the side of the road who were either cycling or walking. I thought they were crazy doing that – to try and skate around the country seems absolute lunacy! I really do wish him all the very best – it will be an incredible achievement.
