Long Distance Skating - Pushing For Change
Here at BoardFree towers, we believe that anything is possible. Bit by bit, more and more people are ditching their day jobs (sometimes temporarily) and turning into fully fledged skateboarding adventurers, all in the name of a good cause. We're here to help, if you like. As long as you're passionate about your journey and the causes you're doing it for, we're behind you all the way. If you can't help but be inspired by the images on this website literally pick up your hand and pinch your arm. If it feels a bit numb it's time for a change. That could be you in those pictures, you know...

Most of these journeys have their own donation pages but if you'd like to contribute and don't know where to go BoardFree's main fundraising page sits at http://www.justgiving.com/boardfreeforlowe

Can BoardFree help you?
So how can we help?
- First off, we'll give you a little space on this website and help you set up your own site so people around the world can hear about your journey. We can also help you get some publicity so the charity/ charities you're supporting benefit to the max.
- Then we'll help you plan your journey, if you want the help of course. We've done a couple of little skate journeys ourselves so might be able to give a few tips on how to plan your route, start working on logistics and look after blisters, things like that.

Sounds brilliant! Where now?
Drop Dave an email on dave@boardfree.co.uk, and let him know your plans. Before you can say 'I'm going on a skate journey' you'll be a fully fledged member of the BoardFree family and life will be about to become a whole lot better!

Fancy a Skate?
The one-stop-shop to getting started on organising the nitty gritty of a long distance skate...
1. Decide on a route and work out the distance and when you want to do the journey. It doesn't have to be a mammoth epic, it could be just a day trip or something that lasts a week.
2. Think up a name for your journey, make it unique and cool sounding.
3. Get in touch with Dave Cornthwaite and let him know your plans. He'll do as much as he can to help you, but bear in mind he might be skating through a desert somewhere so might not be able to do much.
4. Set up a justgiving website at www.justgiving.com. If you can, incorporate boardfree into your justgiving site's name, eg. justgiving.com/boardfreelaura. If you're in the UK your chosen charity should be available to direct the funds raised from your page to. Remember to make sure the event date is the END date of your journey, because the page will expire one month after the event finished.
5. If your journey is going to be long and hard, consider setting up a separate website to give people a chance to follow your journey. If you have no clue about setting up a website talk to Dave and he'll find a way to help you.
6. Start spreading the word, send emails, tell friends and family. Make this the best thing you've ever done!

Details about blister prevention, foot care, shoe types and other specifics coming soon.
